Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

• 1 cup unsalted butter
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp kosher salt
• 2 cups chocolate chips
• Flaky salt, for topping

1. 1Melt the butter in a light-colored saucepan over medium heat, swirling, until it smells nutty and the solids turn golden brown, 5–7 minutes. Pour into a large bowl and cool 10 minutes.
2. 2Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment.
3. 3Whisk both sugars into the butter, then the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
4. 4Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
5. 5Scoop 2-tablespoon balls onto the sheets, 2 inches apart. Sprinkle with flaky salt.
6. 6Bake until the edges are golden but the centers look slightly underdone, 10–12 minutes. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
